The Garden's first international office opened in April at the Kunming Institute of Botany (KIB), strengthening RBGE's long-standing links with China.
A Twinning Agreement between RBGE and the KIB was signed in 1991 to promote collaboration in science and horticulture and the partnership has blossomed since, with numerous joint scientific publications and the launch of the Lijiang Alpine Botanic Gardena and the Jade Dragon Field Station.
RBGE's Regius Keeper, Professor Stephen Blackmore, said: "The opening of this office marks the start of an exciting new chapter in RBGE's relationship with the Kunming Institute of Botany. It strengthens our base for plant conservation and research in Yunnan Province and further augments the working partnership between our organisations."
