There's no better way to celebrate midsummer than an evening at the Botanics. Enjoy a special programme of live performance and activities created by the Dialogues of Wind and Bamboo project.

Plant Auction
Doors at 5.30pm; auction starts at 6.30pm.

The Garden's annual plant auction - previously reserved for members only - is open to all this year. So, whether you're looking for a plant that's just a bit special or simply want to learn more about where, when and how some of our most popular specimens were collected, why not drop in?

Lots last year started at just £10 and all the money raised helps to support the work of the Garden.

Promenade Performance - Dialogues of Wind and Bamboo
7-9pm

A musical work, commissioned by the Scottish Arts Council, leads the audience from the Palm House to the Chinese Hillside - from modern reality to ideal harmony with nature - and back again.

The artists who have created this performance are: Susie Brown, Ziggy Campbell, Cheng-ying Chuang, Anne-Marie Culhane, FOUND, Harmony Chinese Ensemble, Kimho Ip, Simon Kirby, Korphai, Bob Lowey, Eddie McGuire, Anothai Nitibhon, Nigel Osborne, Shanghai Jazz Project and Chang Zhang.

Location: Meet at the Temperate Palmhouse by 6.45pm

Chinese Tales at Midsummer
7 - 9pm

Abandon yourself to the magic of midsummer as the Talking Trees Storytellers weave their words in beautiful locations around the Garden.

Midsummer Walk or Roaming in the Gloaming
9pm

Join a late evening walk and enjoy the delights of the Garden at midsummer.

Depart from North Gate. Tickets £4. Booking advisable on 0131 248 2937. See event details.

Natural Progression*
All evening  

A bamboo sculpture emulating natural growth patterns to create an intimate landscape for Chinese dance and drama.

Location: Foot of the Chinese Hillside

Three Pieces*
All evening 

An interactive sound installation in which living plants ‘play' Chinese musical instruments as they react to human movement.

Location: Temperate Palm House

*Both pieces will be in situ from Saturday 14 June - Sunday 29 June
