Snowdrops at Dawyck

The Botanics in Edinburgh as well Dawyck and Logan Botanic Gardens are among 60 nationwide taking part in the 2008 Scottish Snowdrop Festival.

All three Gardens have an enviable collection of snowdrops and visitors in search of the plant, often regarded as the first sign of spring, will be able to marvel at the floral spectacle.

Dawyck is renowned for its stunning swathes of snowdrops and for the first time ever, Logan will open in February (Sundays only) for visitors to enjoy its enchanting displays of snowdrops.

At Edinburgh, you can join one of our Snowdrop Walks every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday of February at 11am and 1.30pm and discover the Garden’s wonderful collection of specialist snowdrops, led by the Garden Rangers. Meet at the East Gate, Inverleith Row. Walks last approx 30 minutes and are free.

Also at the Botanics in Edinburgh, you can see a fascinating display of beautiful 18th and 19th century snowdrop illustrations from the RBGE archives, complemented by stunning photography from RBGE’s in-house photographer, Lynsey Muir. Snowdrops in the Frame runs from 1 to 29 February in the Library Foyer, 20A Inverleith Row.

The Scottish Snowdrop Festival runs nationwide from 1 February to 16 March.
