Visitors now start their journey through the ten interlinking, climate-controlled zones via the grand Temperate Palm House, which has undergone a major refurbishment.
The visitor experience is enhanced by new interpretation, including a nifty sound guide, an information panel in each zone and a ‘Junior Explorer' activity map for children.
A tour through the ten zones under glass is like a journey around the globe, taking one from the Amazonian rainforest to an Indonesian mountainside, from Australian cloud forests to sun-baked Arabian deserts. Along the way, the brand-new, handheld Audiopass sound guide allows visitors to listen to the stories of gardeners, explorers and experts who dedicate their lives to studying and conserving plants.
The Glasshouses - Windows on the World are open in March from 10am-5.30pm (last entry), April onwards 10am-6.30pm (last entry). Enter via reception in the Temperate Palm House. Admission charges: £3.50 adults, £3 concessions, £1 child and £8 family, 50p charge for use of Audiopass. Free map and Junior Explorer leaflet.
