VisitScotland 5 Star Award

Dawyck Botanic Garden has received VisitScotland's prestigous five star rating, making it the first garden in Scotland to achieve world class recognition.

The Garden, near Peebles, has reaped the benefits of a new £1.6m visitor centre to join an elite band of five star visitor attractions in the Scottish Borders and throughout Scotland. A five star grading means everything provided by the Garden is of the highest of standards for layout, information, cleanliness, maintenance and signage. Significantly, it regards the staff in terms of attitude, efficiency comfort and food.

Professor Stephen Blackmore, Regius Keeper, RBGE said: "We cannot fail to be delighted with the news that VisitScotland has selected Dawyck as the first garden in the country to receive five star status through its rigorous Quality Assurance procedure. That the award has been made in the months following the opening of our new visitor centre can be no coincidence and we thank the Scottish Government for investment in that project. We have long believed that the Garden itself was of world-class standard, but the addition of upgraded facilities has allowed us to hugely improve our visitor offering".

Sandi Hellowell, VisitScotland Regional Director said: "It is credit to all involved at Dawyck, the five star award really emphasises the time and effort that has gone into making the attraction world class standard".
