A warm welcome to our new apprentices

Settling in just fine. Jennifer Wright and  Kevin Klein-Woolthuis, both 19-years-old, settle in to their new roles in the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh’s (RBGE) modern apprenticeship scheme. Both come to RBGE with some horticultural background: Jennifer, from Dunfermline, recently completed an NC in Horticulture with Garden Design at SRUC Oatridge – and also volunteers for the National Trust for Scotland. Kevin, from Newtongrange, has worked with both Midlothian Community Hospital Garden and Dobbies Garden Centres.

The two will advance their apprenticeships when they start studying towards either an NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Amenity Horticulture this autumn.

Their progress will be encouraged along the way by RBGE Director of Horticulture and Learning Kevin Reid who commented: “I met with both Jennifer and Kevin last week to welcome them both onto our team. I will follow their progress with interest and provide all necessary support to ensure they have a comprehensive apprentice experience and learning opportunity.
